Nawanshahr:- District Magistrate Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, issuing an order under the Indian Civil Safety Code, has imposed a complete ban on carrying and displaying weapons/arms in any kind of marriage palaces/resorts, fairs, religious places, processions, barats, wedding parties or other events/public gatherings and educational institutions in the district. Apart from this, the said ban will also remain in force on public and social media display of weapons. According to the orders issued by the District Magistrate, songs promoting weapons or violence are also included in the ambit of this ban/prohibition. In this regard, the district police will conduct surprise checks in various areas. Apart from this, an FIR will be registered against anyone who gives hate speech against any community and strict action will be taken.
Ban on processions, meetings, rallies without permission
In another order, District Magistrate Gulpreet Singh Aulakh has banned the gathering of five or more people, raising slogans/making provocative speeches by any person in public places, and taking out processions/meetings/rallying in public places without permission to maintain law and order in the district. He said that in special circumstances, public meetings, processions or rallies can be held by taking prior permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. This order will not be applicable to military personnel in police/army uniform, any other government employee posted on duty and to performing Shabad Kirtan in praise of God/Akal Purakh inside marriage/marriage/mourning gathering/religious places/institutions.
Ban on construction of gates without permission
The District Magistrate has banned the construction of any gate by any person/institution on government/panchayat land in the district through another order. If any such memorial gate is to be constructed, then approval will be taken from the District Magistrate after first taking permission from the concerned department.
Instructions issued for installation of CCTV cameras
Thus, an order has been issued to the managers of banks and owners of petrol pumps in the district to install CCTV cameras in their petrol pumps and banks, which have a recording capacity of at least 07 days. In the order issued, the District Magistrate has said that it has come to his notice that incidents of robbery/theft are happening in petrol pumps and banks from time to time. During these robberies, the robbers go with weapons and forcibly enter and loot, which creates a threat to the life and property of the general public because those robbers have dangerous weapons. Installing CCTV cameras in banks and petrol pumps will help in preventing these incidents. These orders will be in force till April 5, 2026.
