Hoshiarpur- District Magistrate Ashika Jain has issued orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 to impose a ban on harvesting wheat with combines in District Hoshiarpur from 7:00 in the evening to 10:00 in the morning. 
Along with this, she instructed the owners of wheat harvesting combines that before using the harvester combine, it is mandatory to get the machine inspected through the Agriculture Department, and no combine harvester should be used without installing the Super SMS. These orders will remain in force until 31 May 2026.
As per the issued orders, combines work for 24 hours to harvest wheat, and during the night, due to dew, the wheat becomes moist and is harvested in that condition. Due to this, the moisture content in the wheat is likely to exceed the standards fixed by the government. Such wheat cannot be procured by the purchasing agencies, due to which farmers have to face unnecessary harassment in the mandis while selling their wheat. 
Therefore, strict compliance with these orders must be ensured. The District Magistrate also appealed that wheat stubble or residue should not be set on fire, as it pollutes the clean environment.
