Chandigarh, December 6: Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa condemned the BJP-led Haryana Government for using excessive police force and firing tear gas shells to stop Punjab farmers from marching towards Delhi, saying that following the footsteps of the previous Mohan Lal Khattar government, the Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana Government is hell-bent on suppressing the peaceful protest of farmers, which is a very undemocratic step.
He said the Haryana Government should understand that farmers are not protesting in their state, they are using Haryana as a route to reach Delhi. Bajwa said everyone is surprised why the Haryana Government is upset with this. Bajwa said every Indian citizen has the right to protest and raise their voice in a peaceful manner in their capital. Meanwhile, what the authoritarian BJP Government of Haryana has done is very unfortunate and condemnable.
Bajwa said that the benefit of legalizing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will not only benefit Punjabi farmers, but farmers of the entire country including Haryana will get relief. It is worth noting that a group of 101 farmers from Punjab, Marjiwada Jatha, started a march towards Delhi today to put pressure on the BJP-led central government regarding their legitimate demands including legalizing the Minimum Support Price (MSP). They once again had to face the brutality of Haryana Police at the Jambhu border.
The Haryana government has deployed heavy police force at all the checkpoints since yesterday. Tear gas shells have been fired on the farmers marching towards Delhi. Bajwa said that many farmers have been injured in this barbaric action of Haryana Police.
