Santoshgarh/Una, April 14 (Rajveer Chopra): On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar—the architect of the Constitution of India—an awareness and free health check-up camp was organized at the Guru Ravidas Temple complex in Santoshgarh.
This event was held under the joint aegis of the Himachal Pradesh State Scheduled Castes Commission (Una) and the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Welfare Society, Santoshgarh.
Kuldeep Dhiman, Chairman of the Commission and a former Minister, attended the program as the Chief Guest, while Satpal Singh Raizada, former MLA of Una, was present as the Special Guest.
On this occasion, Kuldeep Dhiman paid floral tributes to the statue of Babasaheb located at Ambedkar Chowk and reached the venue by undertaking a foot march. He stated that the objective of this camp is to raise awareness among members of the Scheduled Castes community regarding the government's public welfare and social security schemes.
He remarked that Babasaheb's life stands as a symbol of struggle, equality, and social justice. His message—"Educate, Agitate, Organize"—remains a source of inspiration for society even today. During the event, he also announced that Ward Numbers 4 and 5 of Santoshgarh would be renamed "Ambedkar Nagar."
Special Guest Satpal Singh Raizada observed that Dr. Ambedkar played a pivotal role in nation-building and in uniting people from all sections of society. He proposed the installation of a statue of Babasaheb at a suitable location near Santoshgarh Chowk or outside the Court Complex.
During the camp, advocates Vijay Dogra, Digvijay Malhotra, and Shalini Jamwal educated the public regarding their rights, entitlements, and opportunities. Twenty individuals availed themselves of the services provided at the free health check-up camp, which was organized by the Health Department.
A large number of dignitaries, administrative officials, and local representatives were present at the event. On this occasion, numerous individuals were present, including the Society's President Surinder Bassi, Vice President Sulinder Chopra, General Secretary Suresh Kumar, Treasurer Mahesh Sahjal, Harjit Singha, Naresh Singha, Pankaj Chopra, Naveen Mahe, and Una District President (Scheduled Castes Wing) Balram Mahe; as well as Pandit Jagat Ram, Gurpal Kalsi, Naresh Kumar (Advocate), Kuldeep Nangal, Harichand Sandhu, President of the Santoshgarh Urban Unit Mukesh Puri, Barinder Prabhakar, Anju Saini, Baby, Asha Devi, Nirmal Mahe, Kulwinder Bains, Surjit Singh, Ashok Basan, Das Ram, Jagmohan Singh Walia, Dr. Naresh Katnoria, Dr. Krishna Katnoria, Ashu Mahe, and Jyoti.
