Sydney:- Australia's e-Safety Commissioner has taken a tough stance against the giant social media companies of the technology world and issued notices of heavy fines of up to 50 million dollars. Under the new law implemented in December 2025, there is a complete ban on creating social media accounts for children under the age of 16. The special thing is that the entire responsibility of complying with this law has been placed directly on the companies instead of the parents. If the companies fail to verify the age correctly, they will have to face this hefty fine.
According to current reports, many children are still using these platforms by filling in the wrong date of birth or taking advantage of weak security systems, which is exposing them to inappropriate and dangerous content.
This is a clear warning to top executives like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg that violations of the rules will not be tolerated. On the other hand, parents concerned about the safety of their children have welcomed this strong move by the commission.
