Dirba, June 07 – Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema congratulated and honored Sehnur Bawa, a girl from Sangrur district, after she won the gold medal in the relay race at the Under-20 Asian Athletic Championship held in Hong Kong.
Sehnur Bawa is a resident of village Khadial in Dirba constituency. Born in a simple family and interested in sports from the beginning, she has brought glory to her area and the entire country.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema specially reached her house to congratulate her family and also openly informed about all the facilities provided to her by the Punjab government. Finance Minister Cheema said that the achievement made by Sehnur Bawa at a young age is a matter of pride not only for our Dirba constituency but also for the entire country. Due to the special thinking and intention of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann towards sports, today the youth and young women of the villages are competing in sports.
He wished that this girl would represent India at the Olympics and at the global level in the coming time so that the name of our area could be further illuminated. He also said that his government would provide all possible help to this girl for further preparation. Along with this, if she needs any necessary equipment or financial help to prepare for the competition, then all that help would be given to her.
While congratulating the girl's family, he said that a girl from the villages has brought glory to the entire area, this is a unique achievement. He said that the Punjab government is building a big stadium in every third village to raise the standard of sports and sports. Along with this, a magnificent stadium is also going to be built in this village, which will enable more players to be produced.
He said that a magnificent indoor stadium is being built in Dirba city, in which 11 games can be played at a time. Not only here, the Punjab government is also providing coaches in different villages along with building the stadium.
He also congratulated the coach of this girl, Jaspreet Singh, who saw the qualities of becoming an athlete in this rural girl and has made her an international level athlete today. He also said that Sehnur Bawa is going to prepare at the national and international level. It now becomes the responsibility of the government to provide her with all possible help so that she can bring glory to her country at the international level.
