Una, 09 December:- Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal held an important meeting in the DRDA assembly hall on Tuesday with the aim of further speeding up the Himachal government's anti-chitta campaign and making Una district chitta-free. Principals of all the colleges of the district and directors, principals and administrative officers of ITI institutes were present in the meeting.
Describing the role of educational institutions as important in the eradication of Chitte, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized on making an organized, sound and practical strategy for this. The Deputy Commissioner said that the fight against drug addiction can be won only when educational institutes, parents, society and administration make joint efforts. He appealed to all colleges and ITI directors to regularly monitor the behavior of children in their respective institutions. If any student shows unusual behavior, stress, depression or withdrawal from the group, take appropriate counseling and necessary action without delay.
He directed that if any person is seen trying to sell drugs to students outside school, college and ITI campuses, immediately inform the police so that this illegal network can be rooted out.
The Deputy Commissioner said that today mobile phones are becoming a major cause of addiction, miscommunication and stress among children, so parents and teachers are requested to keep children away from unnecessary mobile use and motivate them towards positive activities. He said that instead of scolding a child who lags behind in any activity, give encouragement and responsibility, so that his confidence can increase.
Shri Jatin Lal directed the educational institutions to regularly conduct Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, sports competitions, yoga sessions, music, dance, art, and other physical and creative activities in their campuses, so that the energy of the youth can be directed in a positive direction. He also directed that all school and college directors should hold a meeting every week and ensure to send its report to the concerned SDM office compulsorily. All SDMs will inform the Deputy Commissioner about these activities.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Himachal government has taken a big initiative to eliminate drug trade. If a person informs the ticket sellers and exposes them, he will be given a reward of Rs 10 thousand to Rs 10 lakh and his identity will be kept completely confidential. This initiative will prove to be very effective in breaking the drug trafficking network.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Bhatia said that Una police is working on a zero tolerance policy against drug addiction and patrolling day and night to root out the demand and supply chain of cheetah in the district. The police team is conducting continuous raids and keeping a close eye on suspicious activities.
All the college, ITI and school principals and directors present in the meeting assured the Deputy Commissioner that they would extend all possible support to make Una a Chittawa free district.
Principals, directors and others of various colleges and ITIs along with Assistant Commissioner Varindra Sharma were present in the meeting.
