Hoshiarpur:- Under the guidance of Dr. Anup Kumar, President, DAV College Managing Committee, Shri R.M. Bhalla, Secretary, and Advocate Shri Navroz Sharma, Secretary, B.Ed. College, and under the leadership of Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla, DAV College of Education, Hoshiarpur, organised the celebration of the 80th Independence Day of the country through its ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Group’.
On this occasion, Advocate Shri Davinder Mohan Sharma, a respected member of the DAV College Managing Committee (Correspondence School), hoisted the National Flag on the college campus with full honour and pride. Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla, along with the entire teaching and non-teaching staff and students of B.Ed. and M.Ed., was present on the occasion.
Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla formally welcomed the Chief Guest and all the distinguished guests present and highlighted the achievements of the college. She also extended Independence Day greetings to everyone. Patriotic songs, dances and various performances presented by the students filled the hearts of the audience with a wave of patriotism.
On the occasion, Jasmeen Kaur was honoured for securing first position in Shot Put and Discus Throw, while Pawandeep Singh was honoured for securing first position in the 1500-metre race at the Punjab University Inter-College Sports Competition. Students who secured outstanding positions in the On-the-Spot Teaching Aid Competition organised at the college were also honoured. Students Sakshi, Kajal, Amit Thakur, Sahil and Anuradha, who participated in the International Youth Day organised by the Red Ribbon Club, were also honoured with certificates.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Chief Guest Advocate Shri Davinder Mohan Sharma extended Independence Day greetings to everyone and said that this great celebration gives us an opportunity to pay homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Mother India. He further said that future teachers, by spreading values and education and ensuring the all-round development of students, would contribute to the development of society and the nation as a whole.
President Dr. Anup Kumar said that this festival is dedicated to the people of India who have always continued to take the country forward on the path of development. He further said that DAV College of Education, Hoshiarpur, has also always set an example by fulfilling its responsibilities towards society and the nation.
Secretary Shri R.M. Bhalla and B.Ed. College Secretary Advocate Shri Navroz Sharma also extended their greetings to everyone on this glorious occasion.
Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla said that this national festival should be celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. She also encouraged all staff members and students to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and said that every Indian should take a pledge on this day for nation-building, the development of the country and its protection. She also congratulated all the students who received honours.
