Una, September 28:- The Himachal Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a state-level function on Monday at Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra, Samurkalan, on the occasion of Acharya Divakardatt Sharma Jayanti. The contribution of Acharya Divakardatt Sharma to literature, the Sanskrit language and the cultural heritage of Himachal was remembered during the function. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and offering of floral tributes before the statue of Acharya Divakardatt Sharma.
Former Secretary of Himachal Sanskrit Academy and Sanskrit scholar Dr. Mast Ram said that Acharya Divakardatt Sharma made a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of Himachal’s culture and the Sanskrit language. He said that the work of Acharya Divakardatt provides an important foundation for understanding Himachal’s rich cultural and intellectual tradition.
During the function, Principal of Government Sanskrit College Dr. Ramesh Sharma presented a research paper on the topic ‘ज्योतिषशास्त्रे आचार्यदिवाकरदत्तस्यावदानम्’. Dr. Madan Mohan and Jagat Prakash also shared their views on the literary and cultural contribution of Acharya Divakardatt Sharma.
A poetry conference was organized in the second session of the function. Writers who arrived from different districts of the state, including Shanti Kumar Syal, Dr. Shrinathdhar Dwivedi, Kundan Lal, Om Kumar Sharma, Krishna Laddakhi, Kuldeep Sharma, Ashok Kalia, Rampal, Alka Chawla, Onkar Prasad, Dr. Ratna Chand Ratnakar, Balkrishna Soni and Academy member Zahid Abrol, recited their poems. The poetry conference was presided over by retired Principal Dr. Om Datt Saroch.
Advocate Virochan Sharma, grandson of Acharya Divakardatt Sharma, was present as the distinguished guest at the function. Dr. Amit Kumar Saroch conducted the proceedings. At the conclusion of the programme, District Language Officer Nikku Ram expressed gratitude to the writers who had arrived from different districts of the state.
On this occasion, Academy Research Officer Swatantra Kaushal, Librarian Anil Kumar and Ravindra Kumar were also present.
