Chandigarh, 25 September:- Director of the Department of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture, Haryana, Dr Aditya Dahiya, formally unveiled the book ‘Bharatiya Sanskriti Ki Avadharana’, authored by Padma Shri and senior litterateur Dr Santram Deshwal, at his office in the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, on Friday. On the occasion, he congratulated Dr Deshwal on the publication of his new literary work and appreciated his long-standing literary and cultural contribution.
Dr Aditya Dahiya said that Indian culture is not merely an identity of ancient traditions, but also a strong foundation of our life values, social consciousness and national identity. Literature is the most powerful medium for passing these values from one generation to another. Through their writings, litterateurs perform the important task of preserving the memories, experiences and cultural heritage of society.
He said that India's cultural tradition embodies a rich legacy of unity in diversity, coexistence, human values, folk life and social harmony. Written from a contemporary perspective, this work will provide readers an opportunity to connect with their roots and enable the younger generation to understand their cultural heritage in depth.
The book contains 20 thought-provoking essays focusing on various aspects, traditions and social values of Indian culture. The work highlights cultural relevance in changing times and establishes a meaningful dialogue between rich traditions and contemporary thought.
The book will prove highly useful for students, researchers, literature lovers and readers interested in Indian culture.
Author Padma Shri Dr Santram Deshwal, while sharing his literary journey, said that his attachment to literature and culture has continuously inspired him. Around three dozen (36) of his books have been published so far, covering diverse subjects including Haryanvi literature, folk culture, language, poetry, ghazal, travel writing, biography, translation and literary criticism.
It is noteworthy that two of Dr Deshwal's books have been honoured with the Best Work Award of the Haryana Sahitya Akademi. In addition, for his outstanding contribution to literature, he has also been honoured with the ‘Mahakavi Surdas Lifetime Literary Practice Award’ and the ‘Janakavi Mehar Singh Award’, among the state's highest literary honours.
Joint Director (Administration) of the Department of Information, Public Relations and Language, Manav Malik, and Project Director Dr Pawan Arya were also present on the occasion.
