Gharaunda/Karnal, August 16: The 80th sub-division level Independence Day celebration was held with great enthusiasm, zeal, and jubilation at the New Grain Market complex in Gharaunda. Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand attended the event as the chief guest; he hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the parade. On this occasion, MLA Jagmohan Anand honored the family members of martyrs present on the dais. The program commenced with the national song 'Vande Mataram' and concluded with the national anthem.
In his address, MLA Jagmohan Anand extended warm Independence Day greetings to the gathering and paid profound homage to the known and unknown freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's independence. This year, the auspicious festival of Hariyali Teej is also being celebrated alongside Independence Day; he extended his heartfelt wishes for Hariyali Teej to all the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the state.
He also paid special tribute to the brave soldiers stationed at the nation's borders who uphold the honor of the Tricolor even in adverse conditions. It is thanks to the sacrifices of these brave soldiers that we are able to breathe freely today. He remarked that the entire country is currently awash in the colors of the Tricolor; every street and home is adorned with its hues, and the spirit of patriotism resonates in every corner. He described the Tricolor as a living symbol of our history, struggles, and aspirations.
MLA Jagmohan Anand stated that the government has always prioritized the honor and welfare of the martyrs' families. A government job is being provided on compassionate grounds to one dependent of every soldier martyred while defending the country. Over the past 12 years or so, government employment has been provided to the dependents of approximately 425 martyrs. He added that historic decisions taken under the Prime Minister's leadership are contributing significantly to the nation's reconstruction, and the government is implementing numerous schemes for the welfare of the poor. These schemes have provided the weaker sections of society with opportunities for equality, dignity, and self-reliance.
He stated that Karnal district is advancing rapidly on the path of progress and prosperity. During the government's tenure of nearly 12 years, Karnal city has been included in the list of the country's 100 Smart Cities. Karnal secured the third position nationwide in cleanliness rankings, while achieving the top spot within the state.
Significant strides have been made in the district across the sectors of education, health, and road transport. Work is proceeding at a rapid pace on several key projects in Karnal, including the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Medical University at Kutail, the Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, the ring road on the outskirts of Karnal, and an elevated flyover in the heart of the city.
He remarked that India is carving a distinct identity for itself globally, not only in terms of cultural and military strength but also in other spheres. In the realm of sports, Haryana has established a unique identity both nationally and internationally. He noted that the Indian contingent delivered an outstanding performance at the recently concluded Glasgow Commonwealth Games, winning a total of 39 medals—comprising 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze.
Athletes from Haryana played a significant role in this success, winning 10 medals, including 7 gold. The state's daughters further enhanced Haryana's pride by winning five gold medals. The government has placed special emphasis on strengthening sports infrastructure, providing superior training to athletes, and encouraging talented youth.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes, their coaches, and their families for their achievements. He stated that the country is progressing rapidly due to the continuous efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the government has implemented numerous welfare schemes to empower the general public.
