Nawanshahr, February 17: A grand ceremony and procession was held in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, to mark the birth anniversary of Satguru Ravidas Maharaj. The procession was led by Sant Surinder Das, President of Shri Charanchhoh Ganga Khuralgarh Sahib, the land of Satguru Ravidas Maharaj. Celebrated annually in the month of Phagwan, this festival fills the holy city with spiritual energy and devotion for Guru Ravidas's devotees. The main attraction of the procession was the specially prepared palanquin of Guru Ravidas Maharaj.
The program began with a formal puja ceremony at Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kapila Sangam Square. The procession then traveled through the city's main streets, accompanied by drums and melodious hymns. Sant Surinder Das and Sant Karam Chand provided detailed information about the life of Guru Ravidas Maharaj to the devotees. A large number of devotees joined the procession to enjoy this special event. The hymns and devotional atmosphere along the route mesmerized everyone.
This festival of lights not only attracted locals but also drew a large number of devotees from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and especially Punjab to Amarkantak. The presence of saints and sages from Punjab further enhanced the grandeur of the event. The large gathering of devotees on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Satguru Ravidas Maharaj Ji made the event a unique example of social harmony and discipline. Organizing committee members explained that although the birth anniversary falls on Magh Purnima, the festival of lights was celebrated on Monday to ensure widespread participation of all devotees in Amarkantak.
