Hoshiarpur:- As per the program issued by the Punjab State Election Commission, Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections are being held on December 14. After scrutiny and withdrawal of nomination papers, a total of 662 candidates will contest the elections in Hoshiarpur district.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that after scrutiny of nomination papers and withdrawal of nominations, a total of 80 candidates will contest the elections for Zila Parishad and a total of 582 candidates for Panchayat Samiti. She said that 17 members have been elected unopposed/unanimously for Panchayat Samiti.
She said that the voting will be held on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm through ballot papers, for which the district administration is ensuring proper arrangements. She said that the counting of votes cast will be done from 8 am on December 17. He said that the district administration is committed to conducting the elections in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner.
