Una, February 1: The 38th Major Chhajju Ram Law Memorial Football Tournament, held in Nagnoli, concluded today (Sunday) with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. This football tournament was held from January 29 to February 1, with a total of 16 teams participating.
In this tournament, Nagnoli Football Club secured the first position with an outstanding performance, while Baba Balak Nath Club Nagnoli was the runner-up. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri honored the winning team with a cash prize of Rs. 45,000 and a trophy, and the runner-up team with a cash prize of Rs. 35,000 and a trophy.
During the event, a tug-of-war competition was also held between Nagnoli Football Club and 5911 Club, in which Nagnoli Football Club emerged victorious. Both teams were presented with mementos. Additionally, a baton race was also a major attraction.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged the players to move forward with a spirit of sportsmanship, saying that such sporting events help keep the youth away from drugs and inspire them towards discipline, teamwork, and positive thinking. He said that sports competitions strengthen the sports culture in the region and provide a platform for talents to flourish.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced a grant of Rs. 50 lakh for the overall development of the sports ground and Rs. 50 lakh for the installation of floodlights. He also announced a financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to the organizing committee for the successful conduct of the tournament.
On this occasion, Nagnoli Panchayat head Mehtab Thakur, senior Congress leaders Ranjit Rana, Ashok Thakur, Vinod Bittu, Virender Mankotia, Jaspal Jassa, Rakesh Jaswal, and many other dignitaries and sports enthusiasts were present.
