New Delhi:- Customs officials have seized 1.2 kg gold hidden in spare parts of a machine at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here. Officials said, “A passenger was stopped after arriving from Singapore on November 15. During interrogation, he revealed that about 1.2 kg of gold was hidden in a consignment, which he had come to collect.
The passenger said that he is the CEO of a firm engaged in the business of machine spare parts. He had a consignment weighing 10.8 kg pending for clearance at the new courier terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which he had come here to collect.
Customs officials said in a post on X that when the consignment was scanned, some suspicious images were seen. On further investigation, it was found that 1,200 grams of gold was hidden in the spare parts of the machine. The accused has been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway.
