Punjab government should immediately ensure electricity supply to the tubewells of farmers in flood-affected areas and canal water to the fields - Makhan Brar

Chandigarh- Senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) Sardar Barjinder Singh Makhan Brar has said that the power supply in the fields has been badly affected due to the floods in Punjab. Now that the water has dried up in the fields, farmers are removing the sand accumulated in their fields, then there will be a need for uninterrupted power supply to the tubewells for irrigation immediately after this. The government should ensure adequate power supply to the farmers so that farmers can sow the next crop at the right time by irrigating at the right time.

Sardar Makhan Brar said in a statement to the media that although the party is also providing large-scale financial assistance, some work is beyond the reach of the government, including power supply and canal water supply to the fields. Sardar Makhan Brar said that according to the report sent by the party workers from the ground, many motors have been burnt due to the flood water, which has further increased the losses of the farmers. The next 15 days are very important for wheat sowing, so without delay, the government should ensure power supply to the tubewells of the farmers and also make canal arrangements to carry canal water to the fields.
Expressing concern over this serious situation, the Shiromani Akali Dal has demanded from the government that power supply for agriculture be restored immediately and compensation be given to the farmers for the burnt motors.
