Patiala 3 October:- As per the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpal Inder Singh, under the Dry Day being celebrated every Friday to prevent dengue, the teams of the Health Department went door to door in the streets/mohallas and checked the sources of stagnant water. Nursing students and ASHA workers also participated on this occasion.
The teams of the Health Department went to the hot spot areas of Patiala from Shere-Punjab Market to Press Road, Gurbaksh Colony, Bharat Colony to Nabha Road, Pratap Nagar, Kaka Colony, Sai Market to Ragho Majra, Ghuman Nagar A to B etc. and the larvae found on the spot were destroyed. At the same time, people were also made aware about diseases like dengue and chikungunya. The teams were inspected by District Epidemiologist Dr. Sumit Singh.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpal Inder Singh said that all the government hospitals in Patiala have complete arrangements for the treatment of dengue and all the necessary medicines are available. And the teams of the health department are working with full vigilance in all the areas.
He said that water should not be allowed to stagnate anywhere and if water does stagnate, then black oil should be poured into the stagnant water sources. If anyone feels high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes and pain in the whole body, then they should go to the nearest health center and get tested for dengue.
At present, Patiala urban and Nabha tehsil areas have become hotspots for dengue, all the cases reported here are being shared with the Panchayats, Municipal Committee and Municipal Corporation so that fogging can be done on time by them.
District Epidemiologist Dr. Sumit Singh said that this time 232 dengue cases have been found in the entire Patiala district so far. He said that this week, 40756 houses across the district were checked for dengue larvae and the teams destroyed the larvae found at 546 places on the spot.
He further said that so far, 890079 houses have been surveyed by the health teams under the Dry Day campaign, out of which the larvae found at 8433 places have been destroyed on the spot and the concerned families have been made aware about future prevention. He said that this is the peak time for the breeding of mosquitoes that spread dengue fever. Therefore, the netted windows and doors should be kept closed during the day, mosquito repellents such as All-Out should be installed during the day.
He said that compared to last year, the number of dengue-carrying Aedes mosquito larvae is increasing. The Meteorological Department is predicting another rain in the coming week. Therefore, everyone should remove the rubbish from the roofs or in the open in their houses so that rainwater does not stagnate.
