Hoshiarpur- The paddy procurement season is going to start soon in Punjab. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Ashika Jain said that the arrangements made in the mandis are being continuously reviewed. She assured the farmers to ensure timely and smooth procurement.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this time it is estimated that about 4.36 lakh metric tonnes of paddy will be procured in the district. In view of this, all the necessary facilities in the mandis, such as electricity, water, tarpaulins for rain, parking, toilets, arhtiyas and seating arrangements for farmers are being finalized. He directed the concerned departments and procurement agencies that there should be no shortage of any kind in the markets and the procurement process should be completed in a completely transparent and smooth manner.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers of the district to bring only completely dry paddy to the markets. Wet or damp paddy affects the procurement process and farmers have to face unnecessary difficulties. He said that the government is committed to ensuring full and timely payment of the price of their crop to the farmers.
Ashika Jain said that the administration will successfully complete the procurement of paddy without any hurdles this season with the cooperation of farmers and arhtiyas.
