
Mohali Admin Gears up for General Election to Gram Panchayats-2024
SAS Nagar, September 26, 2024:- With the issuing of notification by the State Election Commission Punjab to the General Elections to Gram Panchayats-2024, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer SAS Nagar said that the Mohali Administration is already geared up for free, fair and transparent elections in the district.

Divulging the details, the District Election Officer Mrs Jain said that Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district has 332 Gram Panchayats for which the nomination process will be started from September 27 starting from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. No Nomination would be accepted on September 28 due to holiday. The last date for filing nomination papers will be October 4, 2024. Scrutiny of the papers will be done on October 5, 2024 while the last date for withdrawal of nomination will be October 7, 2024 by 3:00 pm. After that, the contesting candidates will be allocated symbols and voting has been scheduled on October 15, 2024 staring from 8:00 to 4:00 by ballot boxes. The counting will be done on same day after completing polling. A candidate for Sarpanch have a limit of election expenditure up to 40,000 and Panch Rs 30,000.
She said that for the smooth and successful conduct of General Elections to Gram Panchayats in four blocks of district a total of 422 polling booths have been set up with all the required assured minimum facilities for voters.
The district has 332 Panchayats with 422 Polling Booths and 296860 voters ( Male 159028, Female 137823, Others 9) with block-wise break up of 65 Panchayats, 75 Polling Booths and 51128 voters (Male 27162, Female 23964, Others 2) in Kharar block, 93 Panchayats, 121 Polling Booths and 91569 voters (Male 49041, Female 42526 and Others 2) in Derabassi block, 73 Panchayats, 116 Polling Booths and 87518 voters (Male 46944, Female 40570, Others 4) in Mohali block and 101 Panchayats, 110 Polling Booths and 66645
(Male 35881, Female 30763 and Others 1) in Majri Block. There are 2131 wards for elections of Panches in district. Out of these, Derabassi Block has 615, Majri block 579, Mohali 471 and Kharar 466.
She further said that the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers have been deputed block-wise to complete the entire electoral process in the district with the locations where they have to accept the nomination papers.
The list of reservation gram panchayats have been uploaded on district website sasnagar.nic.in.
Appealing to all the stakeholders and aspiring candidates to abide by the Election Code of Conduct, the Deputy Commissioner said that the violations will be dealt with strictly.
