Chandigarh, August 17 - Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini said that cleanliness, drug-free and healthy lifestyle should now be made a people's movement. With public participation on this concept, we will be able to build a strong nation.
He said this while addressing the youth who had reached the NaMo Marathon organized on the occasion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's birthday near Mansarovar Park in Rohtak on Wednesday morning with the theme of Drug Free Haryana. The Chief Minister started the cleanliness campaign by doing Shramdaan in Rohtak this morning. Before the NaMo Marathon, he planted saplings in Mansarovar Park and promised to protect the environment.
Shri Naib Singh Saini extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on behalf of the state residents. Addressing the youth gathered at the Namo Marathon, he said that today is a day of sacrifice, service and the spirit of nation building.
The Prime Minister's life is an inspiration to all of us. We are proud of such energetic personalities for whom leadership is not just a matter of luck but also service, sacrifice and honesty. Under his leadership, India has made remarkable progress in the direction of self-reliant, innovative and inclusive development and the country has got a new identity on the world stage.
The Chief Minister said that our double engine government under the presidency of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has done remarkable work by giving priority to women empowerment. Beti Bachao-Beti Bachao, Ujjwala Yojana, Maa Vandana Yojana and AAP support groups have worked to empower women. He described Namo Marathon as an important step towards a drug-free society.
He also appealed to the people who reached the program to come forward to protect the environment. He described the plantation under the One Tree in the Name of Mother campaign as a concept of respecting Mother Earth and protecting the future of the coming generations. Earlier, he started the cleanliness campaign by doing his own Shramdaan. The Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has today taken the form of an Andolan. The Chief Minister also administered the oath of drug-free living to the youth who reached the program.
Former Minister Shri Manish Grover, Rohtak Mayor Shri Ram Avtar Valmiki and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
