
Punjab government's successful efforts to make maximum area of ??the state green - MLA Sherry Kalsi
Batala, January 11 - Young MLA of Batala and Executive President of Punjab, Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi said that the Punjab government with the aim of making maximum area of ??the state green and protecting wildlife, the Forest and Wildlife Protection Department has taken important initiatives during the year 2024. 2.84 lakh saplings have been planted under various schemes such as State Authority Camp and Hariyali Punjab Mission. Apart from this, 3153.33 hectares of area has been brought under forests.

MLA Sherry Kalsi said that in order to prevent illegal felling of plants planted in non-forest and government lands as well as to protect the environment from pollution and to encourage maximum plantation, The Punjab Cabinet has given the green signal to the ‘Tree Preservation Policy for Non-Forest Government and Public Lands-2024’. He said that under the policy of planting at least 4 saplings per tubewell, 28.99 lakh saplings have been planted on tubewells. He further said that 46 sacred forests and 268 Nanak gardens have also been established. Along with this, 78 toilets are also being constructed for women staff members in the nurseries of the department.
