Specially-Abled Children’s Talent Is a Precious Legacy of Society: Aman Arora

Hoshiarpur- A vibrant event of ‘Umang 2025’ Season 7 was organized at James Cambridge International School, Hoshiarpur under the joint initiative of the Jagjit Singh Sachdeva Asha Kiran Special School (run by Asha Deep Welfare Society) and Special Olympics Bharat, Punjab Chapter. This program was specifically aimed at providing a platform to intellectually challenged children to showcase their talents and to strengthen their self-confidence.

On this occasion, Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora was present as the chief guest. He stated that specially-abled children are a valuable legacy of our society. They possess immense potential and unique talents. Through such events, not only is their morale boosted, but they also receive a positive social identity. The Punjab government is fully committed to inclusive development and will continue to extend all possible support to such initiatives in the future.
Arora praised the efforts of the organizers and congratulated Asha Deep Welfare Society and the Special Olympics team. He said that platforms like ‘Umang’ not only inspire children to progress but also reflect true societal sensitivity.
On this occasion, Amrit Sagar Mittal, Vice Chairman of the Economic Policy and Planning Board Punjab and Sonalika Industries Group, stated that it is our moral duty to encourage the education and social participation of specially-abled children. Events like ‘Umang 2025’ inspire society toward compassion and showcase a true model of inclusivity.
During the program, Parmjeet Singh Sachdeva, Area Director of Special Olympics Punjab, stated that this is a one-of-a-kind cultural competition held across the country. This year, 330 specially-abled children from 29 teams representing different states of India participated. He said that this competition has become a benchmark for specially-abled children across the nation. ‘Umang 2025’ has emerged not just as a competition, but as a symbol of compassion, closeness, and inclusive development.
Present on the occasion were MLA from Tanda Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, MLA from Dasuya Karamveer Singh Ghuman, Chairman of Backfinco Sandeep Saini, Chairperson of District Planning Committee Karamjit Kaur, Chairman of Hoshiarpur Market Committee Jaspal Singh Chechi, Engineer Harbans Singh, Colonel Gurmeet Singh, Manjeet Singh Brar, Sports Director S.O.B Punjab, Ashok Arora, President of S.O.B Punjab, Shelly Sharma, along with other distinguished personalities.
