Mohali May 13:- A delegation of Sanskrit Bharati Punjab met SCERT Punjab Director Mrs. Amninder Kaur Brar at SCERT office in Mohali. The meeting discussed the need for reforms in Sanskrit education in Punjab.
Sanskrit Bharati Punjab President Dr. Virendra Kumar stressed that Sanskrit, which is the ancient language of this land, has remained invisible in the education policy of Punjab. He also pointed out that no changes have been made in Sanskrit textbooks for the last 30 years and neither have any special training camps or refresher courses been organized for upgrading the competency of Sanskrit teachers.
To address this issue, Sanskrit Bharati Punjab has offered to assist the Punjab Government through SCERT to update and modernize the curriculum. Along with this, a special teacher training program has also been offered to improve Sanskrit teaching techniques, in which international level Sanskrit scholars and educationists will give information to school teachers about the challenges in Sanskrit teaching and their solutions.
Delegation member Dr. Oman Deep described the meeting as encouraging and successful. He said that the Director has sought more information about the teacher training module. With the next meeting and discussions, the delegation is hoping for successful and effective results of this initiative.
Co-Minister Shri Ajay Kumar Arya was also present on this occasion.
