Farmers Sensitized About Proper Stubble Management

Nawanshahr- Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, a block-level farmer training camp was organized today in the nearby village of Kariyam as part of the ongoing awareness campaign led by Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma to prevent stubble burning in the district.

During the camp, organized by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Block Nawanshahr, Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Kuldeep Singh provided detailed information about the tools used for stubble management. He stated that the district has an abundant availability of stubble management tools. 
He informed farmers about the benefits of incorporating stubble into the soil and the problems caused by smoke from burning it. He also explained that burning one ton of stubble destroys essential soil nutrients, including 5.5 kg of nitrogen, 2.3 kg of phosphorus, 2.5 kg of potassium, and 1.2 kg of sulfur.
During the event, Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Gurpreet Singh provided information on preventing common rice diseases, stating that controlling locusts is essential to protect crops from dwarf disease. He shared details about the insecticides used for this purpose and precautions to be taken during spraying. 
Engineer Chandan Sarma provided comprehensive information to farmers about the subsidies offered by the department for stubble management machinery. Agriculture Sub-Inspector Sarbjit Singh gave detailed information about resolving issues faced by farmers under the PM Kisan Scheme. He also informed farmers about the subsidized wheat seeds provided by the department.
On this occasion, Harmesh Kumar (ATM), Tarwinder Singh (Secretary, Cooperative Society Kariyam), Sandeep Singh Bhangal Kalan (President, Cooperative Society), and farmers including Jasvir Singh, Balkar Singh, Joga Singh, Surinder Singh, Parwinder Singh, Hardeep Singh Atwal, Arvinder Singh, Amrik Singh, Balwinder Singh, Balwinder Singh Dhadwal, and others were present. More than 100 farmers participated in the camp and benefited from it.
