Nawanshahr- Under the chairmanship of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma and the able guidance of Agriculture Officer Dr. Surinder Kumar, a farmer training camp was organized under the CRM scheme at village Jadli of block Balachaur on not burning stubble and natural farming. Dr. Surinder Kumar, while addressing the farmers regarding not burning crop residues, said that the National Green Tribunal is deeply concerned about the damage caused to the environment and human health by burning crop residues in the fields.
Therefore, the National Green Tribunal has imposed a complete ban on burning paddy stubble in the fields, which is the main demand of the hour to be followed so that the environment can be protected from pollution. The Agriculture Officer said that to solve the problem of stubble burning, Punjab Agricultural University has recommended various machines like baler, happy seeder, chopper for chopping and scattering stubble, surface seeder, super seeder, zero drill, mulcher etc.
He appealed to the farmers to get their paddy crop harvested only with combine machines with Super Straw Management System (SMS) which chops the stubble while harvesting the paddy and spreads it evenly and after harvesting with such a combine, wheat can be sown with happy seeder and open row zero till drill and other seeders without setting fire to the stubble.
Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Jagmandeep Kaur and Agricultural Extension Officer Raj Kumar presented their views on plant protection and natural farming for wheat and paddy crops to the farmers. They advised the farmers to use pesticides only as per the requirement. On this occasion, Raj Kumar Secretary, Navroop Singh President, Paramjit Singh Numberdar, etc. progressive farmers were present.
