Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 19: As part of the "Every Friday, Dengue Pe War" campaign, teams from the District Health Department conducted inspections in various areas of the district today. Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Epidemiologist Dr. Anamika Soni reported that, under the leadership of senior district health officials, health workers, ASHA workers, and nursing college students inspected containers for dengue fever-causing mosquito larvae and inspected other potential mosquito breeding sites. Those present were also briefed on the symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment of dengue fever.
The inspection teams specifically included members of village health and sanitation committees and resident welfare associations.
The Civil Surgeon stated that the "Every Friday, Dengue Pe War" campaign is being conducted on the instructions of the Punjab government. The campaign is being carried out vigorously throughout the district. While officers and other staff are conducting door-to-door surveys, challans are also being issued. During the surveys, utensils, Pots, coolers, refrigerators, containers, and other items are being inspected. He said the only effective way to prevent dengue is to avoid water stagnation.
Dr. Jain explained that the larvae of the mosquito that spreads dengue fever develop into dangerous mosquitoes within a few days, which can even kill a person. He explained that dengue fever does not have a specific season, but it is usually more prevalent from July to the end of November. The mosquito that spreads dengue fever bites during the day and breeds in clean water. Dengue testing and treatment are free at government health institutions.
