DC calls for early completion of pre-tendering formalities of STPs

SAS Nagar, February 05, 2025: Construction work of Nayagaon STP underway 10 new STPs of around 80 MLD to be set up in the district To ensure proper disposal of liquid waste in the district, the capacity is being increased to 80 MLD by setting up 10 more STPs in SAS Nagar.
Giving details, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that earlier the district had a capacity of 101 million litres per day to treat sewage water. To fill the gap of additional requirement of 46.10 MLD, around 10 more STPs are being commissioned, having a capacity of around 80 million litres per day to treat sewage water.
The upcoming STPs are proposed at Lalru, Derabassi, Zirakpur, Sector 83, Kharar and Nayagaon. Out of these, the Nayagaon STP is under process, informed the Deputy Commissioner. He informed that the work started last year and is expected to be completed by February 2026. The successful bid for Naya Gaon was recorded at Rs 35.52 crore. The scope of work includes laying 4600 meters of sewer line while a sewage treatment plant of 18.50 MLD capacity.
So far, 1200 meters of sewer line has been laid while 12 percent progress of STP has been recorded. Similarly, 15 MLD and 10 MLD works of Kharar have also been allotted and construction will start soon. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the concerned agencies have been asked to carry out the work so that all the projects can come on the path of work.
ADC (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal said that as per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, the remaining establishment work is being evaluated in various stages and tenders will be issued soon.
