Under the leadership of District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anita Kataria and District Immunization Officer Dr. Seema Garg, 13 newborn girls were honored and the girls and their parents were honored by giving gifts. In the function, a colorful program was presented by the students of ANM Training School to create awareness about health schemes.
Lohri was also distributed to everyone on this occasion. Speaking at the Lohri ceremony, Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana threw light on the importance of Lohri and said. That this effort will help in stopping feticide by celebrating Lohri of daughters and people will get the strength to have true thoughts towards girls because girls are the basis of our society. Dr. Anita Kataria said that many initiatives are being taken by the Health Department under the PC PNDT Act to stop female foeticide. To make it better, we need to change our thinking so that we strengthen girls with good thinking.
During the program, District Immunization Officer Dr. Seema Garg said that we should celebrate the Lohri of our boys with full pomp and show with the thought that if we adopt the same thinking for our daughters, they will become their support. If we educate them and nurture them like boys, then girls can also make valuable contribution to the society and make this society happy and can support their parents in old age. There was full support in the Dhiyan Di Lohri program from District Dental Health Officer Dr. Shaila Mehta, Deputy Mass Media Officer Tripta Devi, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, ANM Training School Principal Trishala Devi and group tutors and District BCC Coordinator Amandeep Singh.
