SAS Nagar, June 9 - Deputy Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation Kuljit Singh Bedi, raising questions on the gifting of billions of rupees collected by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) by selling Mohali's property to the Punjab government, has sought information under the Right to Information Act 2005 that an account should be given of the billions of rupees collected by selling Mohali's property, how much of that money was spent on the development of Mohali city and how much money was given to the Municipal Corporation for the development works of the city. This RTI will clearly put GMADA and the Punjab government in the dock.
It is worth mentioning that in the last two-three years, GMADA has sold billions of rupees worth of property of Mohali city, while very little or no funds have been given to the Mohali Municipal Corporation for development works. No major amount was spent on the development projects undertaken by GMADA itself for Mohali city.
Through RTI, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has sought complete details of the total value of the property sold by GMADA in Mohali in the last five years (2020-21 to 2024-25) and also sought information on how many buyers surrendered the properties. He has also sought information on the final amount of the properties sold based on the final bid given by the successful bidders who bought GMADA properties.
The Deputy Mayor has sought information on the amount spent by GMADA for development in the Mohali area during the last five years (2020-21 to 2024-25), completed projects, and projects in the pipeline, as well as year-wise details of the expenditure incurred on it.
He has also sought full details of the amount paid by GMADA to the Punjab government in the last five years, along with details of the money paid to Mohali Municipal Corporation to aid development works, and year-wise details of the sites allotted by GMADA in Mohali and the penalty collected from plots/commercial sites in the last five years (2020-21 to 2024-25).
