SAS Nagar, November 29, 2024: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General & Urban Development) Viraj S Tidke today reviewed the progress of installation of CCTVs under City Surveillance & Traffic Management System along with MC Commissioner T Benith and GMADA ACA Amrinder Singh Tiwana.
Executive Engineer Jaswinder Singh of Punjab Police Housing Corporation, the implementing agency, apprised the ADC and other officers of the progress made so far. He said 11 points have been fully installed and have been put in testing mode, while work is in progress on the other five points. He said four more points will be made operational after the completion of civil work proposed by GMADA at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan and Radha Soami Chowk besides Dairy T-point (Landran Banur Road) due to construction of underpass and PCA Stadium crossing due to widening of road.
ADC Viraj S Tidarke asked GMADA Additional Chief Administrator Amarinder Singh Tiwana to inform him about the timeline of commencement and completion of work for resuming the installation at these points. Commissioner MC, T Benith asked the executing agency to complete all the technicalities before the actual launch of the monitoring system, including marking of stop lines before zebra crossings and installation of speed limit signboards.
He said the area under MC will be covered by MC staff for marking of stop lines and installation of speed limit boards, while Greater Mohali Area Development Authority will complete the areas under its jurisdiction so that the challenging system can work as per rules. ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary and SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur were also present in the meeting.
