
SSBC Teachers Union Punjab Delegation Meets Punjab Education Secretary
Chandigarh, June 28: A delegation of the SSBC Teachers Union Punjab and leaders from other teacher organizations, led by State President Baljit Singh Salana and Executive President Krishan Singh Duggan "“ met the Secretary of School Education at the Mini Secretariat Punjab (Chandigarh).

The leaders stated that during the meeting, the Education Secretary discussed the teachers' demands with seriousness. They mentioned that the Education Secretary has prepared a proposal that the cadre from pre-primary to BPEO will be at the district level.
They further stated that the Education Secretary announced that 1,950 posts for special educators in primary schools and 1,650 posts in secondary schools would be provided. The process for promotions across all categories will be completed before posts become vacant from January to December. The departmental promotion quota from ETT to HT, HT to CHT, and CHT to BPEO will be 90 percent. The service requirement for promotion from pre-primary to ETT and ETT to HT will be 4 years, while for promotion from HT to CHT and CHT to BPEO, it will be 2 years.
They added that the Education Secretary agreed to the demand for providing PTI teachers, computer teachers, clerks, and sanitation workers at the center level. Assurances were given for the early recruitment of 2,000 PTI teachers in the primary department, new recruitments to provide class-wise teachers in primary schools and subject-wise teachers in upper primary schools, regularization of computer teachers and staff of meritorious schools, applying Punjab pay scales to 180 ETT teachers (currently under consideration by the Finance Department), regularizing the remaining 120 education volunteers soon, regularizing those who complete 10 years of contractual service (including 2 years of course duration) by December 31, 2025, and making efforts to frame service rules for associate teachers and assistant associate teachers.
The leaders said that regarding the issue of violation of reservation policy and the R.K. Sabharwal judgment in the promotion of 126 junior assistants to senior assistants, the Punjab Education Secretary issued orders over the phone to rectify it on the spot. Assurances were also given to correct the roster registers for direct recruitment, head teachers, center head teachers, etc.,
prepared by the Education Department, and to address the backlog of reserved categories since 2016 in accordance with the reservation policy. Agreement was also reached to relax the probation period condition for mutual transfers and to provide special opportunities for transfers to teachers and lecturers promoted in the past.
The delegation included, among others, the union’s General Secretary Lachhman Singh Nabipur, Finance Secretary Gurpreet Singh Guru, Vice Presidents Gursewak Singh Kaler and Parvinder Bharti, Gurmeet Singh Faridkot, Baljit Singh Sangrur, and Inderjit Singh Ropar.
