At the same time, farmers have already started preparations in full swing. Also, due to the farmers getting electricity supply in three phases, farmers have also prepared the fields by planting pumpkins from today itself.
It is worth mentioning that paddy sowing had started from Sunday, June 1. Let us tell you that this time paddy sowing in Punjab was started 10 days earlier than last year, for which the farmers have also made necessary arrangements. However, the process of direct sowing of paddy in the state has started from May 15, which will continue till July 31. If we look at the last year, paddy sowing started from June 11.
Punjab divided into three zones for sowing
The state government has divided Punjab into three zones for paddy sowing and it started from the border and canal irrigated areas. Therefore, on June 1, paddy sowing started first in Faridkot, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Fazilka, which are adjacent to the international border. After this, from June 5, the sowing will start in Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Fatehgarh Sahib and Hoshiarpur, while finally in Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Mansa, Moga, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Kapurthala, Jalandhar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar from June 9.
Electricity supply will be available for 8 hours daily without any problem
The power department has decided to provide electricity supply for 8 hours daily during the paddy sowing in Punjab and the time can be extended if necessary. This time, providing electricity to the people during the extreme heat and paddy season will be a test for Powercom. The demand for electricity in the state has been recorded at around 11 thousand MW this afternoon, which has reduced to 7 to 8 thousand MW due to the change in the weather in the afternoon.
