Patiala, June 5 - The situation has become tense regarding the management of Vishwakarma Mandir Lahori Gate Patiala Regd. No. 1429. This historic temple, run by the Vishwakarma clan for the last 55 years, was started by devotees and servants.
The temple has reached a position that there is excess balance in the bank and 2 acres of land is available which was purchased with government grants and contributions from devotees. This property now belongs to the temple, but for some years some members formed Vishwakarma Trust for their personal interests and appointed trustees as per their wish.
They kept taking wrong decisions from the beginning. On 15-05-2025, the current President Surjit Singh Mahal was removed by the trustees on charges of non-cooperation, which was strongly opposed by the Vishwakarma community.
In this regard, a general meeting was called on Sunday, 01-06-2025, but a large number of police were called by the other party in the temple. The police not only stopped the meeting, but also stopped the members coming from outside from entering the temple.
In protest against this, all the members held a protest meeting in the temple itself. In the meeting, it was unanimously decided to reorganize the Bhagwan Vishwakarma Mandir Committee Lahori Gate Patiala as per the current registration number 1429 and Surjit Singh Mahal was appointed as the President. All the members expressed their support by raising their hands. Along with this, they were also given the right to choose a team to complete the quorum.
In view of the current tense situation and conflict, all the members have appealed to the government to bring the temple under the Dharma Arth Board and appoint a new administrator, so that any kind of tension or financial loss can be avoided in future.
