Lalru (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), May 18: The drug eradication campaign launched by the Punjab government under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Aam Aadmi Party National Coordinator Arvind Kejriwal will continue till 15000 villages and wards are made aware of drugs.
This was stated by MLA Derabassi Kuljit Singh Randhawa on Sunday while reaching Sarasini, Hasanpur and Chandiala villages and interacting directly with the people. He also took suggestions from the people on how the drug problem can be eradicated from Punjab and especially in their villages. He said that the purpose of the drug eradication campaigns is to connect the people with the Bhagwant Singh Mann government's campaign against drugs and make Punjab drug-free.
He said that under this Sampark campaign, gram sabhas are being held in about 351 villages every day. Three villages have been selected in each assembly, where this movement will be further strengthened with the participation of the public.
MLA Randhawa, while talking about the achievements of the government in the war on drugs campaign, said that till now, bulldozers have been driven on the illegal properties of 86 drug traffickers, and 75 traffickers have been caught through encounters. From which it is clear that the intention and policy of the government is very clear and unambiguous - either give up drugs or leave Punjab.
He said that during the campaign, such warriors are also being honored, who themselves fought the darkness of drugs and broke out of that cycle. He said that such people are a real source of inspiration. He said that we should support such people, give them a chance to move forward, only then can we win this war.
MLA Randhawa clarified that this drug-free journey is not a political journey, it is a social concept, for which every section of the society, every panchayat, every youth, every parent needs to join this movement. He said that. This fight to make Punjab drug-free is a common fight of all of us.
He also administered the Mukti Pledge to everyone on this occasion, which included a pledge to make Punjab drug-free, to make every citizen a guard of his village and not allow drugs to enter the village, not to look at drug-affected people with contempt, to show them the right path through treatment, to help them in rehabilitation, not to give any kind of patronage to drug smugglers, not to give them bail, etc.
MLA Randhawa was accompanied in these drug-free journeys by Derabassi SDM Amit Gupta, SHO of Derabassi and Lalru police stations, Panch Sarpanch and Mohtabar of the villages.
