
World Press Freedom Day is a grand festival celebrated all over the world: Dr. Indu Bansal

It is an international festival celebrated to explain and support the importance of media freedom and its voice across the world. The day was first initiated by UNESCO in 1994 and has since been celebrated in countries around the world. The purpose of World Press Freedom Day is to highlight the importance of press freedom and raise awareness about the threats faced by journalists.

The purpose of World Press Freedom Day is to highlight the importance of press freedom and raise awareness about the threats faced by journalists.
Wishing hearty greetings to the journalists on the said day, Dr. Indu Bansal, Founder and State President of Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana, said that World Press Freedom Day was started by UNESCO in 1991. At that time, the UNESCO Parliament discussed the need for journalists and media organizations around the world to fight for freedom and independence. After this discussion, the UNESCO Parliament declared World Press Freedom Day in 1993 and decided to celebrate this day on 3 May. This day was celebrated for the first time in 1994 and since then it is being celebrated every year.
Dr Bansal said that Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana is such a journalist union which is committed to protecting the interests of journalists and press freedom.
Dr Bansal said that for the interests of journalists, we have demanded from the Haryana government that the family of the journalist should get the benefit of free education and health services, as well as the Journalist Protection Act should be implemented in Haryana soon. For which a memorandum will also be given by meeting the Chief Minister and Governor of Haryana soon.
Dr Bansal said that Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana is not only a journalist union in the state but also in the country whose membership fee is only Rs 10. In which it also gives the benefit of group insurance scheme to journalists.
Dr Bansal said that Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana had also advocated press freedom by opposing the new rules of PRGI implemented by the government recently.
Dr Bansal said that Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana has established new dimensions not only in Haryana but in the whole country in a short span of just 5 months. And soon, to further strengthen the fight for the interests of journalists, the district executive of Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh Haryana will be formed in entire Haryana.
