MLA Announces Rs 1.20 Crore Grant for Conversion of Govt Primary School Behra into ‘School of Happiness'

Derabassi (SAS Nagar), April 23: As part of the ongoing Punjab Sikhya Kranti Campaign, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa today inaugurated infrastructure development works worth Rs 56.80 lakh in four government schools of the Derabassi constituency, aiming to uplift educational facilities for local students.

While interacting with the students, MLA Randhawa expressed his delight at the upgraded, state-of-the-art infrastructure now available in their schools. He emphasized that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to transforming the state by prioritizing health and education—key pillars of the Rangla Punjab vision.
Randhawa highlighted that infrastructure upgrades worth Rs 2,000 crore have already been carried out under the campaign. He also noted that Punjab is the first state in the country to dedicate a significant portion of its annual budget to visible improvements in the health and education sectors.
At Government Primary and Government Middle Schools in Village Bhagwas, MLA Randhawa inaugurated three new classrooms, a playground, and a compound wall came up at a cost of Rs 27.10 lakh. Similarly, in Village Behra, development works worth Rs 29.70 lakh—including new classrooms and a boundary wall—were completed and handed over to students.
In a major announcement, MLA Randhawa declared the conversion of Government Primary School, Behra into a School of Happiness with a dedicated grant of Rs 1.20 crore. He stated that this initiative will focus on the holistic development of children, integrating academic learning with emotional and psychological well-being.
Prominent attendees included School Heads Kulwinder Singh and Nirmal Verma (Bhagwas), Varinder Pal Singh and Veena Rani (Behra), Sarpanch Manvinder Singh Bhagwas and Sarpanch Baljinder Kaur Behra, as well as students and their parents.
