
Rayat Bahra hosts district-level Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations
Mohali: Rayat Bahra University, in collaboration with the Punjab Government, hosted district-level celebrations to celebrate the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the main architect of the Indian Constitution and a great figure in the pursuit of social justice, equality and empowerment. Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Bains paid heartfelt tributes to the unparalleled legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting his lifelong dedication to uplifting the marginalized and empowering the coming generations.

Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra and Senior Vice President of Rayat Bahra Group Sahil Kapoor warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and attendees. In his address, Chancellor Bahra reflected on the lasting impact of Dr. Ambedkar as a jurist, economist, social reformer and leader of the Dalit Buddhist movement, emphasizing his significant role in building a just and inclusive India.
As part of the commemoration, the Education Minister distributed beneficiary letters under several key welfare schemes, including the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste students, Ashirwad Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY).
Other dignitaries who attended the event were Malvinder Singh Kang, Member of Parliament, Anandpur Sahib; Prabhjot Kaur, Chairperson, District Planning Board, Mohali; Parminder Singh Goldy, Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board; and Komal Mittal, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali.
