Kurali's daughter Navpreet Kaur won bronze medal in weightlifting during National Games.

Kurali, April 17- Navpreet Kaur, daughter of Sohan Singh Kanungo, resident of Ward No. 6 Model Town of the local city, has brought laurels to the local city and family by winning bronze medal in weightlifting during the Under-17 National Games held in Imphal, Manipur recently. Today when Navpreet Kaur reached Kurali, dignitaries of the city and family members welcomed her with garlands.

Kurali, April 17- Navpreet Kaur, daughter of Sohan Singh Kanungo, resident of Ward No. 6 Model Town of the local city, has brought laurels to the local city and family by winning bronze medal in weightlifting during the Under-17 National Games held in Imphal, Manipur recently. Today when Navpreet Kaur reached Kurali, dignitaries of the city and family members welcomed her with garlands.
Talking to journalists on this occasion, Navpreet Kaur told that in the Under-17 National 81 weight category held in Imphal, Manipur till April 13, she won bronze medal by lifting 144 kg weight category representing Punjab state and secured third position. She told that during this competition she has learned a lot and now she has been selected for the 'Kholo India Competition' being organized in Patna, Bihar from May 7 to May 11 and she has started preparing for this competition with full heart.
Navpreet Kaur said that her goal is to represent India during the Olympic Games and win a gold medal for India. She credited her coach D.K. Sharma, retired international chief coach, who is currently serving at Chakwal Senior Secondary School, Kurali and said that she has achieved this feat only because of the weightlifting gurus taught by coach D.K. Sharma and the hard work she has put in.
Navpreet Kaur is a class 12 student at International Public School, Kurali and on this occasion her father Sohan Singh Kanungo, who is serving as Kanungo in Kurali, while talking to journalists said that his daughter has made him proud by winning the bronze medal and securing the third position in the whole country.
He said that he hopes that his daughter Navpreet Kaur will work harder in the upcoming competitions and bring laurels to Punjab. Along with this, Municipal Council Kurali President Ranjeet Singh Jiti Padiala, sports promoter Davinder Singh Bajwa, Raman Kant Kalia, Nandi Pal Bansal, Lakhvir Singh Lucky and all the councillors along with other dignitaries of the city congratulated Navpreet Kaur and her family on winning the bronze medal in weightlifting.
