
Government School Lecturers Union, Punjab has welcomed the decision of Education Minister to increase the promotion quota.
A large number of vacancies of Principals and Teaching Staff in Senior Secondary Schools of Education Department, Government of Punjab are harming the education and all-round development of students. More than 950 Principal posts are vacant in Punjab. Due to reduction in promotion quota (50%) by the previous government in 2018, highly educated and experienced lecturers are retiring without getting promotion.

The Education Department has not promoted school principals since 2022. Government School Lecturers Union has been continuously working closely with the School Education Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains and Education Secretary had drawn attention to the issue of amendment in PES Group A Rules of 2018.
The Education Minister had also promised the Union for a long time to increase the quota to 75-25. After a long wait, today there was a wave of happiness in the entire Lecturer cadre when the Education Minister announced promotion by increasing the quota. On this occasion, Lecturer Union President Sanjeev Kumar said that he welcomes this decision of the government and thanks the Education Minister for his special efforts.
He also thanked Chief Advisor Gulshan Chhabra and media representative S. Gurmeet Singh Brar Bhalaiyana. Union's State Press Secretary Ranbir Singh Sohal said that this decision will be a new beginning in the field of school education and the government's dream of education revolution will come true.
