Hoshiarpur- Deputy Director General of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) IAS officer Bhavana Garg today held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain and other concerned officials and reviewed the Aadhaar card and the new instructions issued in this regard.
Deputy Director General Bhavana Garg stressed that to further strengthen the Aadhaar records, the identity proof and address proof of the residents should be updated. She said that Aadhaar card holders who have got the card made before 2015 should get their information updated through their nearest Aadhaar center or https://uidai.gov.in.
She said that the facility of online update is completely free till June 14, 2025. Talking about the security aspects related to Aadhaar, Bhavana Garg asked the Aadhaar card holders to lock their biometrics online. She said that to avail various Aadhaar related services through https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and Aadhaar mobile application, mobile number must be registered. He said that the correct name should be recorded on the birth certificate. He said that the district administration will organize special camps at hospitals, nursing homes, vaccination centers and Anganwadi centers to make Aadhaar cards of children below 5 years of age. He said that biometrics should be compulsorily updated when the children turn 5 years and 15 years of age.
He said that if biometrics is not done on time, there is a risk of losing data when the child turns 7 years or 17 years of age in these cases. Bhavana Garg urged the District Education Officer to update Aadhaar biometrics in schools and said that camps should be organized on a weekly basis for Aadhaar update of children between the ages of 5 to 7 years and 15 to 17 years.
Accepting the demand of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, the Deputy Director General said that training sessions related to UIDAI will be organized to make the officials aware about Aadhaar camps, regular reviews, visits to Aadhaar centers, completion of pending applications, ensuring biometrics and various media related to Aadhaar. The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the district residents to take advantage of the facility of online Aadhar update.
