Chandigarh, March 24- Punjab Budget Session: Congress MLAs on Monday walked out of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in protest against the party MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira allegedly not being given a chance to speak in the House. During the Zero Hour, Bholath MLA Khaira sought the attention of Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to allow him to raise issues in the House. Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also stood in support of Khaira and appealed to the Speaker to allow him to speak.
When Khaira kept demanding permission from the Speaker to speak, Sandhwan told the MLA that it was his right to decide who should be given a chance to speak in the House. After this, Khaira sat down. After a few minutes, Khaira again got up from his seat and demanded that the Speaker allow him to raise issues related to agriculture. However, the Speaker allowed MLA Sandeep Jakhar to speak in the House. When Khaira expressed his displeasure at not being allowed to speak, Sandhwan told him, “You are preventing a respected member from raising the issues of the people of Punjab.” After this, the Congress MLAs went to the middle of the House before walking out. Meanwhile, Congress MLAs Rana Gurjit Singh and Hardev Singh Ladi remained seated for some time, but later walked out.
