The announcement was made in a note issued by the High Court. It said, “In view of the recent developments, the judicial work of Hon’ble Shri Justice Yashwant Verma is withdrawn with immediate effect till further orders.” In an unprecedented move, the Supreme Court on March 22 uploaded the investigation report (photos and videos) of Delhi High Court Justice DK Upadhyay on its website. Justice Upadhyay's report to the CJI contains material regarding official communication which states that "four to five half-empty bags of Indian currency notes" were found at the judge's residence in Lutyens' Delhi.
Justice Verma has strongly condemned the allegations in the currency-search controversy and said that no cash was ever kept in the storeroom of the house by him or any member of his family. In his reply to the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Verma has said that the allegation of cash being found at his residence clearly appears to be a conspiracy to implicate and defame him.
