Garhshankar- Today on 3/05/2025, the monthly meeting of Punjab Pensioners Welfare Association Zone Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur was held at Gandhi Park Banga Chowk Garhshankar under the chairmanship of Shri Saroop Chand Ji Zone President Ji. The proceedings of the meeting began with a two-minute silence and tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack and their eternally departed comrades Master Bhagat Ram former MP, Surinder Kumar President Mukerian Zone and Piara Singh Parakh Ji.
In today's meeting, the problems of the comrades who attended, especially the arrears of the Sixth Pension Commission and the arrears of pensioners formed in 2016-17, were shared and solutions were discussed. Addressing the meeting, Shri Saroop Chand Ji thanked the employees and pensioners for their active participation in the protests, hunger strikes, etc. in the past and also reminded them to be prepared for future challenges.
The remaining demands of the pensioners were full pension for 25 years of service, payment of remaining installments of DA, implementation of the multiplier of 2.59 and increasing the medical allowance to Rs. 2000, etc. The meeting was addressed by Comrade Balwant Ram, who drew attention to the problems of the working class and farmers. He expressed his concern over the feelings and concerns of the common people such as rising inflation, unemployment, drug use among the youth and corruption, etc.
In the meeting, Shi Sham Sundar Kapoor and Major Singh Ji expressed their fun through poetry and shed light on the current situation of the country. Babu Parmanand Ji informed about the hearing and dates of the court cases of pensioners. Mr. Dalvir Singh Ji shared information about the latest events in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir including the Pulwama incident and the provision of water from Punjab to other states. Finally, Comrade Saroop Chand Zonal President Ji thanked the colleagues for attending the meeting. Shi Parmanand, Rattan Singh, Joginder Singh, Satpal Singh, Gopal Das, Sham Sundar, Major Singh, Balwant Ram, Shangara Ram, Subhash Chandra, Narinder Singh, Balram Kumar, Saroop Chand, Veera Banti, Mukhtiar Chand, Dalvir Singh, Gurmeet Ram and Mohan Singh attended today's meeting.
