
District Magistrate orders ban on possession of weapons
Hoshiarpur- District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has issued various prohibitory orders in the district exercising powers vested under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023, under which possession of weapons and playing songs promoting weapons or violence will be banned.

The District Magistrate has issued orders to prohibit possession of Pregabalin capsules without license, possession/sale of more than the permitted quantity and sale of this drug without a doctor's prescription in the district. Legal action will be taken for violating these orders.
According to the orders issued, no person within the limits of the district will carry weapons in public functions, religious places, wedding parties/sehadhis, marriage palaces or other events and there will be a complete ban on display of weapons through public/social media and there will also be a complete ban on playing songs glorifying weapons or violence.
Appropriate legal action will be taken for violating these orders. Apart from this, the owners of marriage palaces should ensure that no person uses weapons during the ceremonies held in marriage palaces. Similarly, Sarpanchs of all the villages of the district have been instructed to keep vigil in the villages at night so that no mischief can be done by miscreants.
According to another order, any kind of procession, gathering of five or more people, sloganeering, carrying sticks, unlicensed weapons, sharp knives etc. has been banned in the district without the permission of the SDM. This order will not apply to government ceremonies, conferences, meetings etc. It will be necessary to take written permission from the concerned SDM before holding a rally/meeting. Similarly, unauthorized storage, transportation, use or sale of cement has also been banned in Hoshiarpur district.
This ban applies to all veterinary institutions of Animal Husbandry Department including Veterinary Hospitals/Dispensaries and Polyclinics, Artificial Insemination Centre of Animal Husbandry Department Punjab, Milkfed and College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU Ludhiana, any other Artificial Insemination Centre which processes and supplies or imports bovine animals from Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab.
