Hoshiarpur- Today, Women's Day was celebrated in Mahilpur block, which was presided over by Mid-Day Meal Workers Union State General Secretary Kamaljit Kaur Kharadi and Kot Block President Amarvir Kaur. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, sisters Surinder Kaur, Balwinder Kaur, Kulvir Kaur, Sandhya Lakhwinder Kaur expressed their views on the problems faced by women in today's times and said that where women are still being exploited in the workplace, homes and society, the government is also exploiting these women.

The cooks working in the mid-day meal are being made fun of by paying them meager salaries, due to which it is difficult for these women to maintain their homes in the face of extreme inflation. The government's promise to women during the elections to give one thousand rupees every month has not yet been implemented. While making fun of the free bus service provided to women in Punjab by the previous government, Bhangwat Singh Mann used to say that nowadays our elderly women run after buses wearing sports shoes, but today in his own state, daughters, sisters and elderly mothers do not get a roadways bus despite running many kilometers.
On this occasion, Punjab Subordinate Services Federation leaders Malkiat Singh Bahowal, Amarjit Kumar Nangal Khiladri and Master Jai Jai Ram Barian said that women have been victims of exploitation since the beginning. Even today, we are facing many problems like dowry, foeticide, rape, domestic violence. The solution to all these problems is that we should be aware of our rights and organize ourselves and struggle against these social evils.
On this occasion, a new election of Mid-Day Meal Workers Union Block Mahilpur was also held. In which President Balwinder Kaur Mahilpur, General Secretary Surinder Kaur Hakumatpur, Vice President Sandhya Rani Kaharpur, Asha Rani Langeri, Cashier Lakhwinder Kaur Barian, Gurmeet Kaur Manoli, Assistant Secretary Santosh Rani Skaruli, Press Secretary Ramesh Katan, Organizing Secretary Charanjit Kaur Jaitpur, Publicity Secretary Pooja Rani Paldi were elected.
