
Mohali Police cracks down on drug traffickers under special operation ‘War against Drugs’
SAS Nagar, March 07, 2025: Cracking down on drug traffickers under the ‘War against Drugs’ operation, SAS Nagar Police has achieved a major success by arresting three accused including a serving Head Constable of 82nd Battalion. 1.8 kg of banned hashish has been recovered from them.
SAS Nagar, March 07, 2025: Cracking down on drug traffickers under the ‘War against Drugs’ operation, SAS Nagar Police has achieved a major success by arresting three accused including a serving Head Constable of 82nd Battalion. 1.8 kg of banned hashish has been recovered from them.
Giving information in this regard, Deepak Pareekh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar told the media that on 6 March 2025, Preet Kanwar Singh Probationer DSP, SHO Police Station Dhakoli along with police party conducted an operation. Police registered FIR No. 24 dated 06-03-2025 under Section 20-61-85 NDPS Act at Police Station Dhakoli and arrested the accused with Activa registration number HR-03Y-2683.
Giving details of the arrested accused, SSP Deepak Pareek, DSP Zirakpur Jaspinder Singh and SHO Preet Kanwar Singh said that Gurjeet Singh alias Mani alias Ganji son of Harvinder Singh resident of House No. 2562 Madi Wala Town Manimajra Police Station Manimajra Chandigarh, Davinder Kumar son of Pirthi Chand resident of village Jatoli Police Station Nurpur Bedi District Rupnagar (Senior Constable in Punjab Police, Belt No. 500/82 Battalion Chandigarh), Ankush Pal son of Paras Ram resident of village Kotla Khurd Police Station Rural Una Himachal Pradesh. Throwing light on the previous criminal record of accused Gurjeet Singh alias Mani, the SSP said that he was earlier booked in FIR No. 83, dated 11-06-2024, under Section 21-61-85 NDPS Act at Police Station Dhalli District Shimla, while another accused Ankush Pal has a criminal history in FIR No. 116, dated 05-07-2024, under Section 21,29-61-85 NDPS Act at Police Station Dhalli District Shimla.
The accused have been taken on police remand, and intensive interrogation is underway to unravel further links in the drug supply chain. The SSP further said that apart from this arrest, Mohali Police is intensifying its crackdown on drug smugglers by conducting frequent raids at various hideouts.
In the recent past, several FIRs have been registered, resulting in several arrests and seizure of significant quantities of narcotics. He stressed the commitment of SAS Nagar police to completely eradicate the menace of drugs from the district.
