SAS Nagar, September 4 - Mohali Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has termed the issue of the bus stand and the closed road adjacent to it as a misfortune of Mohali. He said that after the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the High Court took this matter seriously and gave strict instructions to the officials, a meeting has been held to resolve this issue.
After attending the meeting, he said that the road adjacent to the bus stand has been closed for the last 14 years, due to which people have to face heavy traffic jams every day. He said that on one side this road is closed and on the other side the National Highway (Dara Studio-Verka Chowk section) may also collapse in the coming days.
He said that due to the rains, the basement of the road has started to collapse and if there is heavy rain, this highway can be closed and a major accident can also happen overnight.
He said that the company representative present in the meeting said that they are ready to build the road, but permission and infrastructure need to be given by GMADA. He said that coordination between the company and GMADA is very important so that the public can get facilities. He said that not providing infrastructure to the people of Mohali and not operating the bus stand for 14 years is a stain on GMADA's forehead.
To wash this stain, it is now necessary that the road be operated immediately. He said that it was decided in the meeting that the officials will conduct their technical assessment and inform the High Court during the next hearing. Bedi expressed hope that this time a positive result will come out and this long-pending problem of Mohali will be solved.
