Maud Mandi 3 March - Due to no concrete solution being found for the drainage of dirty water by the Sewerage Board and Water Supply officials, today in the presence of senior Congress leader from Maud Assembly constituency and State President of National Punjabi Mahasabha Maninder Singh Sekhon, the residents of Maud closed their businesses and protested against the Punjab Government, Sewerage Board and Water Supply Maud officials at Bohad Wale Chowk.
It is worth mentioning that Maninder Singh Sekhon has been on a hunger strike for 7 days to get the city residents rid of the problem of dirty water in Maud. Addressing the residents of Maud who are facing problems due to the negligence of the Punjab Government, Sewerage Board and Water Supply Maud officials, President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Baldev Singh Sandoha said that the problem of sewerage in Maud is not a small problem, it is a very big problem and the government is not paying attention to it.
The sewerage pipeline project for drainage of sewerage water is going up to Maisrakhana village, which has to go along the road of Maisrakhana village. When it comes to going into the drain, we don't know how many problems we will have to face. The government representatives who pass the map of the sewerage project should pay attention to this. Advocate Rajveer Mattu, while addressing the protest, said that dirty sewerage water is standing in front of the government girls school and the girl students coming to the school have to face a lot of problems.
If a big leader or the Chief Minister wants to come, then the cleaning workers come from nowhere and start cleaning. Taking a jibe at the government, he said that we also need cleanliness as much as a Chief Minister. Our daughters and sisters go to the market wearing salwar in dirty water. Is respect only for leaders and Chief Ministers? Is there no respect for our daughters and sisters? There is a fear of deadly diseases spreading due to dirty sewerage water. We have seen this by protesting many times. We have also given applications to the SDM. But the government is not listening. The government should pay attention to this. Maninder Singh Sekhon, while addressing the protest, thanked the people who came to the protest and said that I have already filed a petition in the Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court in this regard and the echo of today's Maud Bandh has reached Chandigarh through the media. He said that the outline of the next strategy in this regard will be made soon. Apart from this, Devraj Bumra, Neeraj Garg, Amrik Singh, Jagdish Sharma, Pala Singh MC, Ramesh Mittu, Tarsem Singh Jodhpur, Lakhvir Singh Nazi MC, Dr. Naukar Chand also addressed the protest. Thousands of shopkeepers and Maud residents were present on this occasion.
