
Gurmat Music Workshop started at Gurmat College Patiala will run throughout the year
Patiala, February 25- Gurmat College Patiala has organized a Gurmat Music Workshop to promote the historical Kirtan and tradition of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In this year-long workshop, Gurmat Music experts will teach the students 31 pure and mixed Ragas mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Patiala, February 25- Gurmat College Patiala has organized a Gurmat Music Workshop to promote the historical Kirtan and tradition of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In this year-long workshop, Gurmat Music experts will teach the students 31 pure and mixed Ragas mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Today, in this Gurmat Music Workshop, learned speaker Prof. Manjit Kaur will teach Gurmat Music to the students. The workshop was inaugurated by Gurmat College Principal Dr. Jasbir Kaur while giving information about the Gurmat Music system. She said that we are celebrating the centenary of Jyoti-Jot of Sri Guru Amardas Ji and Guru Gaddi Diwas of Guru Ramdas Ji on a grand scale.
It is successful only when we perform Kirtan in the prescribed Ragas. She said that the Gurus have connected us with the Bani by composing and singing Bani in their prescribed Ragas. Gurmat Music is the only way to connect with the Bani. Prof. Manjit Kaur explained the methods of concentrating on music and singing tunes and also told the students the technique of practicing.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Aspreet Kaur thanked the learned speaker and said that if we want to make the society healthy, then success can be achieved only by following the path shown by the Gurus. Principal Dr. Jasbir Kaur honored the learned guests by presenting them a set of books.
Prof. Japnoor Singh, Madam Prabhjot Kaur, Kuldeep Singh and all the staff and students of the college participated in this workshop.
