Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Shri Krishan Lal Panwar today replied to a question related to law and order raised by MLA Shri Aditya Surjewala in the Vidhan Sabha.

Chandigarh, August 27 - Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Shri Krishan Lal Panwar today informed the Vidhan Sabha that the STF was formed in the year 2017 to crack down on organised crime and notorious criminals in the state. So far, 1,830 criminals have been arrested by the STF and currently its 9 field units are actively working.

Shri Panwar was replying on behalf of the Chief Minister to a question related to law and order raised by MLA Shri Aditya Surjewala on the last day of the monsoon session.
He said that between 2018 and 2025, there has been a continuous decrease in cases like murder, attempt to murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, theft, molestation and illegal sale of drugs.
He said that in the year 2018, 1104 cases of murder were registered, which reduced to 530 by 31 July 2025. During the same period, cases of attempt to murder decreased from 984 to 602, rape from 1296 to 663, robbery from 194 to 57 and kidnapping from 5015 to 2316. In cases of extortion, it decreased from 299 to 254.
He said that similarly, theft cases have come down from 28,969 in 2018 to 13,972 in 2025. At the same time, molestation cases have come down from 2671 to 662, while cases registered under the Narcotics Act have come down from 2587 to 2138. He said that from 2018 to 31 July 2025, the total number of cases registered under IPC/BNS has come down from 1,08,212 to 63,136. In the last two years, by launching a special campaign against gangsters, 14 cases of dacoity, 43 cases of robbery, 111 cases of stone-pelting, 316 cases of theft and 214 other cases have been successfully exposed. In addition, lookout and red corner notices have been issued against 24 gang members, tightening the noose on internationally connected criminals.
